SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer Monday said some city parks will reopen starting Tuesday, but beaches would remain closed for now.
Faulconer said parks will reopen as long as people practice social distancing. Click here for the full list of city parks that are reopening for limited use.
Those parks will require visitors to practice physical distancing and individual activities, like walking and jogging. Park-goers will not be allowed to gather and parking lots will remain closed.

"We want to provide, of course, an outlet for people to be physically and mentally active as we grapple with this new normal going forward," Faulconer said.
According to the mayor, beaches and bays, boardwalks, trails, and golf courses will remain closed until the county says otherwise. Faulconer strongly urged those going to parks to wear face masks.
Playgrounds will remain closed and amid the COVID-19 outbreak and active sports are prohibited in parks.
He added that the city may have to "dial things back" if people do not obey social distancing requirements.

Faulconer added that the city is coordinating with other county mayors on a phased re-opening of water access. When those re-openings begin depends on when the county allows it, according to the mayor.
The news comes as 2,325 people throughout San Diego County have tested positive for coronavirus. So far, 72 people throughout the county have died due to COVID-19.
